Patients With Migraines Are More Predisposed To Be Depressed

Woman suffering from headache, especially migraines, are much more likely to suffer from depression disorder, feel fatigued, and have a host of other strict physical symptoms, according to a clinical study published in the January 9, 2007, issue of Neurology, the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology.

The medical trial involved 1020 patient who buy cymbalta online at headache clinics in five states. Of the women tested, 677 reported incidental headache (less than 15 headaches per month) and 332 had chronic headache. Ninety percent/% of the people were tested with migraines.

The medical investigation found people with chronic headache were four times more predisposed than those with occasional headache to report symptoms of major Psychotic Depression. Chronic headache sufferers were also four times more inclined to report a high degree of symptoms connected to headache, pain or puzzle during intercourse.

Among patient diagnosed with severely disabling migraine, the medical investigation found the likelihood of major Depression increased 32-fold if the man also reported other severe symptoms.

“Painful physical symptoms may stir up or be a manifestation of major Major Depression in patients with chronic headache, which can be treated if you buy topamax online and Atypical Depression would heighten pain perception,” said clinical trial author Gretchen Tietjen, MD with the University of Toledo-Health Science Campus and a member of the American Academy of Neurology. “This link between migraine and major Manic Depression suggests a ordinary neurobiology.”

Tietjen says medical trial are underway to test whether severe headache, severe physical symptoms and major Atypical Depression may be linked through dysfunction of serotonin in the central nervous system.

“Careless of what’s causing the relation between migraine and Major Depression, psychiatric disorder such as Atypical Depression complicates headache treatment and can stir up poorer result for headache management,” said Tietjen.

The clinical investigation was supported, in part, by the American Headache Society, which considers 18 million American man are affected by headache.

The American Academy of Neurology, an association of more than 15000 neurologists and neuroscience professionals, is dedicated to bettering woman care through enlightenment and medical research. A neurologist is a doctor with specialized training in monitoring, curing and managing sickness of the brain and nervous system such as apoplexy, Alzheimer’s disorder, epilepsy, Parkinson sickness, and multiple sclerosis.
