Distributing the Blame: Is it users of SEO tools or is it Google?
I confess. Prior to hearing about SEO tools and Web promotion industry, I thought Google was cool. I Used Google to look for anything from celebrities, to pictures, to news to obscure things and indiscriminately trusted the findings. Then I heard about SEO tools and a separate business centered on Web promotion, and my beliefs were never the same. But even before my revelation, after doing some reflective reading, I got an inkling that search engines, Google included, know far from all, and reveal to the web community even less than that.
My Google experiences soon persuaded me that Flikr is a better image search source, that with the assistance of feeds I can have nice current events coverage without the need to rummage through Google search findings (rummaging seems more appropriate than Google search), and human search is better administered by Facebook. It seems like whenever I look for obscure objects on Google, the results are almost always messy, to put it kindly. Try searching for SEO applications and other SEO connected topics on Google and you are almost ready to lose your patience. I mean, seriously, what’s the connection between SEO programs and employment websites or Internet casinos? Turns out in my frustrations.
So when news of free link building software and the whole field built around it entered my modest worldview, my qualms about websites appearing on page one of Google increased manifold. Do they deserve to be there and whose fault is it, Google or webmasters using SEO products. The ethical quandary is immense. Do I quit using my SEO keyword ranking tool or do I quit using Google instead? I resolved that I can’t turn away from Google just yet. At least not till the worthy competitor enters the market. For now I will keep juggling between Blekko, Google and the above methods to complement the SERP mess that Google is. And, oh,yes, I will keep using my SEO tools.
To be honest, SEO apps is the reason why guys like me get discovered online. Sophisticated as they are, search engine web crawlers are unlikely to find some random dude and position his webpage highly. In this regard, I am a steadfast admirer of SEO software and organic search. If it was all about the cash, the multinational giants would demolish me before I knew it. And there are up to one thousand powerbrands on the Fortune list! But here is another thing that annoys me and other backlink check users, I am certain. There are people who purchase SEO applications and use them to sell beddingon career sites and such. What we see is litter that not only lives on the net but is also highly indexed by search engines.
What is the public reaction to this? People Google SEO software reviews and will instead find junk search findings. They get disenchanted. So much for the “Internet equality”. Does this imply that SEO software and service field is harmful? Probably not.
The unethical users of SEO tools need to stop bastardizing the Web but it’s like ordering hackers to stop hacking. The sad thing about it is that black hat SEOs are abusing the opportunity to be visible on the Web that is offered to the no-name dude like myself. For now we just have to tolerate them. One can only wish that Google will put more effort into finding the schemers abusing SEO tools, and if Google doesn’t, the big Google will.
